Toilet Pour a can of cola into the toilet bowl and leave for an hour to remove stains. Toilet To avoid blockages and neutralize toilet odours, pour a cup of bicarbonate of soda into the toilet bowl once a week. Computer screens Computer screens can be wiped clean with a DROP of washing-up liquid on a damp paper towel. Wipe clean with a clean damp paper towel and buff dry. Mops Always leave mops to dry head up. If you leave it damp in a bucket bacteria will grow and a nasty pong will soon follow. What a honk! Sinks Lemon juice is a natural corrosive that can be used to remove limescale from chrome taps. Rub half a lemon over the surface, leave for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly. Heavily scaled sinks Distilled white vinegar is excellent for removing limescale from chrome and stainless steel. Rub on with paper towels, leave for a few hours then rinse thoroughly. This also removes water marks from stainless steel sinks and drainers. Wipe dry with paper towels. Microwaves To remove dried on food and stubborn smells, place a cup of water, with a few drops of lemon juice in, and heat in the microwave. Do not remove the cup straight away as the steam will loosen dried on food and the lemon juice will neutralize any bad odours. Polishing Over use of furniture polish can result in polish-bound furniture. Generally a damp (not wet) cloth to collect dust and remove finger marks is sufficient for a weekly cleaning routine. Apply a little polish sparingly and only once a month. Carpets To remove crayon from carpets use a knife to scrape off as much as possible, then put several layers of paper towel over the mark and press LIGHTLY with a WARM iron. The towel soaks up the waxy residue.
